December Highlights

The long cold nights of December offer some incredible observing opportunities for stargazers of all levels. This month the picturesque Orion Nebula returns to the evening sky, the majestic Pleiades cluster is visible all night long, and the annual Geminid meteor shower offers a midnight show alongside Jupiter and Saturn! Join Standley Lake Stargazing for an overview of current observing highlights, spaceflight updates, and astronomy news!

Reminder: Our Thursday evening programs continue virtually until January 2024 when we’ll resume in-person programs at the Standley Lake Library! Send an email to contact@standleylakestargazing.com if you’d like to join the mailing list and receive notifications about our weekly programs.
