Lyrid Meteor Shower On Its Way

lyrid_shower.jpeg

Get ready for the Lyrids! For the next week the Lyrid meteors will begin to ramp up to the peak next week (April 22nd), but you can begin searching for them now and take advantage of the early moon set.

Remember that with meteor showers, patience pays off. Slow scans over large regions of sky will give you the best chance of catching the faint meteors, as with most things they’re best viewed from dark skies away as far away from city lights as possible. Don’t expect to see a constant stream of meteors, even at the peak you may see only a handful per hour. With practice you’ll be able to see more meteors, so start now!
