This week we continue our summer series “One Giant Leap” exploring the golden age of spaceflight, when mankind took the first steps toward the stars.
With Apollo 8, NASA and the United States succeeded in sending the first manned crew to the moon, escaping Earth’s gravitational authority and exchanging it for the moon’s. In a race to set a man on the moon by the end of the decade, the Apollo 8 mission was redesigned multiple times to push the schedule further ahead, and not without risk. Join Standley Lake Stargazing for a deeper look at this historic mission!
